Ralli (also spelled rilli or rallee) is a traditional patchwork and quilting craft native to Sindh, practiced for generations by women across Sindh’s rural communities, using scraps of cotton fabric hand-pieced into bold geometric blocks and then hand-quilted with dense rows of running stitch. Rather than throwing away worn or leftover fabric, artisans stitched pieces together into new, functional textiles — turning practicality into a genuine folk-art form recognized as one of the defining textile traditions of the region.
1. Piecing the top. Individual blocks of solid cotton fabric — in our six signature colors — are cut and hand-assembled into the interlocking rounded-square motif you see across the surface.
2. Building the border. A structured, multi-layer border: an inner navy edge, a bold red band, the signature hand-pieced white zigzag trim, finished with an outer navy border.
3. Layering. The pieced top is layered over soft cotton batting and a full cotton backing — three layers total.
4. Hand-quilting, the Ralli way. Small, straight stitches worked in dense, closely spaced rows across the entire surface — creating the signature rippled, crinkled texture.
5. Finishing. Edges are bound, corners squared, pressed and inspected before shipping.
